Autumn Safety Tips

Kids help with yard work – Tell your kids to come up with ways to pick up leaves and pine cones (bending, stretching, balancing on one foot). Do not allow kids to play in leaf piles near the curb.
Leaves are falling! When filling leaf bags, do not overfill and pick them up from the bottom–bend at the knee and use your legs for support, rather than your back.
Campfire – The fire should have a clearance of at least three times the height of the woodpile because heat from the fire extends past the actual flames. Keep the fire in a contained unit.
When you’re outside and it’s chilly, add a jacket. It’s amazing how many people will wear a t-shirt when it is 45 degrees outside.
